Lady Washington
Launched on March 7, 1989, the Lady Washington was built in Aberdeen, Wash., by Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public development authority. The new Lady Washington is a full-scale reproduction of the original Lady Washington. In 1787, after the war, she was given a major refit to prepare her for a unprecedented trading voyage around Cape Horn. In 1788, she became the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America.
This afternoon two Tall Ships, The Hawaiian Chieftain, and The Lady Washington, arrived at John Wayne Marina in Sequim Bay. We had an excellent view of them arriving and docking. They sailed from Aberdeen today. Tomorrow, they offer tours on board for $3.00. In the afternoon there is a "battle" featuring real cannons and black powder. They also promise to show off some old timey military maneuvers. For $60 you can ride along during the battle. We plan on going out with Mike and Patty on their boat to watch the battle.
Steak and crab for dinner. Delicious. Sunny and mid 70's today after some morning fog on the water.
